Silk Stories
Claudia Pfeil is a German ambassador of art quilts, with exhibits throughout the the world. This year is the first time she is showing her work in Scandinavia, in the ‘Culture Stable’ at Bosjökloster.
For the quilt artist, there are no limits to combining hundreds of traditional and modern patterns with one’s own imagination. Claudia paints with her fabrics. A long-arm machine acts as a "pencil in the hand" to build quilting textures from three layers (top, batting, and backing), freehand. Her quilts measure up to 235 x 235 cm.
Welcome into her enchanting world of textiles this summer!
Opening in the Culture Stable May 27, 2 pm - 5 pm
The exhibition is open all days May 26 - September 25
When Claudia Pfeil sewed her first quilt in 1985, she couldn’t imagine that her work would one day win awards and fill exhibition halls around the world.
After studying product design, she first worked as a home textile designer until she came into contact with patchwork again in the mid-90s, by pure chance. Her journey into the world of quilting began with offering courses in her home, before she went on to create her award-winning art quilts.
Claudia Pfeil’s studio and gallery are situated in "Alten Brotfabrik" in Krefeld, Germany.
